Underwater shot off Kikai Island. School of pygmy sweepers "Parapriacanthus ransonneti". The pygmy sweeper "Parapriacanthus ransonneti", a relative of the Japanese seabass "Lateolabrax japonicus", is a nocturnal, carnivorous fish which inhabits reefs and coral reefs and that feeds on zooplankton. Kikai Island, which neighbors Amami Oshima Island, is approximately 380 km south of Kagoshima. It is a raised coral island, which is still rising at an unusually fast rate "an average of 2 mm per year".
