Cop Enters Violent Confrontation With Suspect Reported For Disturbance In Phoenix, AZ, USA

[WARNING: video contains violent content / taser use] On March 8, 2023, a police officer in Phoenix, Arizona shot a man who had attacked him while the officer was responding to reports of disruptive behavior. The incident took place near 27th Avenue and McDowell Road. The video of the incident has no license restrictions and was obtained from the news outlet's emergency services partner. According to the report, the officer responded to two calls at a local business, one from a man wanting to turn himself in and another from an employee reporting the man's disruptive behavior. The officer escorted the man outside, where the suspect attacked him, prompting the officer to use his taser. However, the suspect continued to assault the officer, leading the officer to fire his duty weapon in self-defense. The suspect was treated at the scene and transported to a nearby hospital in serious but stable condition. An internal and criminal investigation is ongoing to determine if the officer's actions were consistent with department policy and the law.
