Nighttime Curfew Goes Into Effect During Pandemic
BERLIN, GERMANY - APRIL 24: A police car drives past near Alexanderplatz after 10pm during a nighttime curfew during the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic on April 24, 2021 in Berlin, Germany. The curfew went into effect in Berlin and other cities across Germany today where the infection rate has been recorded above 100 per 100,000 for three consecutive days in a seven-day period. The curfew is part of a new series of measures the federal government is wielding in controversial, newly-enacted legislation that has been dubbed the "emergency brake" (Notbremse). Authorities are seeking to rein in the spread of the B117 variant that has fueled the current rise in in new infections. (Footage by Christian Ender/Getty Images)
