European elections: David Cameron in Wales

European elections: David Cameron in Wales; WALES: Cardiff: National Assembly: EXT David Cameron MP (Leader, Conservative Party) walking down steps of National Assembly building with Kay Swinburne (Incoming Conservative Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for Wales) as supporters clap and cheer SOT David Cameron MP (Leader, Conservative Party) speech SOT - Wanted to be here in Cardiff on this historic day, not since time of Lloyd George has a Party other than Labour won in Wales, today its the Tory party that has done that right here in Wales - No longer should people say there are in politics uncrackable bastions, safe seats where conservatives can't go, we have won here in Wales, should reflect on why our campaign has been successful, people in Wales are responding to the values of the modern Conservative Party, they know we need thrift in government to deal with this terrible deficit, we need more responsibility in our society to deal with crime and anti-social behaviour, they know need to clean up our politics and cut the costs, going to take tough action from Conservatives to do that / Yesterday these results reflect appalling weakness, division, ineffectiveness in Labour Party, not just that they left us with appalling deficit, failed to reform our public services, don't understand what needs to be done to clean up politics, also that we have in Britain today a desperately weak and divided government, weakness of Prime Minister, ineffectiveness of those trying to get rid of him, extraordinary situation where he can't seem to reshuffle his cabinet but they can't seem to organise a coup, they are locked together in this slow dance of political death that is so bad for our country… / It is a great country, some of best businesses in the world, universities, artists and sportsmen, a heritage that the world is amazed by, yet such an ineffective government, people just think righty that Britain deserves better
