Thomas, a transgender male, is 17 weeks pregnant with his third child. The Beaties wanted to keep their first pregnancy private but when the word began to spread of the world's first pregnant legal man, Thomas wrote an article about his pregnancy in The Advocate magazine which lead to sensational headlines worldwide. Thomas, formerly known as Tracy, was a beauty queen in Hawaii before undergoing 10 years of sex reassignment therapy. He is now a legally recognized man with a black belt in marital arts. He had sexual reassignment surgery in 2002 but retained his female reproductive organs and is having the children as his wife Nancy is unable to become pregnant. Thomas gave natural birth to Susan on June 28, 2008 and Austin on June 9, 2009. Thomas and Nancy Beatie were married in Honolulu, Hawaii in 2003. Their marriage is legally recognized nationwide.
