Swimming chiefs have brushed off concerns about the poor turn-out by big names with Michael Phelps, Ian Thorpe, Grant Hackett, Aaron Piersol and Pieter van den Hoogenband all staying away.The championships -- using a 25-metre pool instead of the usual 50 metres -- have attracted athletes from a record 117 countries.
