SOMALIA-CIVIL-WAR-1991
A Somalian rebel armed carries a wounded man on a wheelbarrow and follow another soldier holding a rocket launcher, 30 January 1991 in a street of Mogadishu in Somalia. Rebel troops of the Somali United Congress (USC) took control of Mogadishu, after a three week long war with Siad Barre's troops.
President Siad Barre fled the country in late January 1991. His departure left Somalia in the hands of a number of clan-based guerrilla groups, none of which trusted each other. Since 1991 Somalia has been engulfed in anarchy.
