Shanghai, CHINA: Ryan Lochte from the US celebrates after winning the Men's 200 metre individual medley final in a time of 1:53.31 during the 8th FINA World Short Course Swimming Championships, held at the Qi Zhong stadium in Shanghai, 07 April 2006. Swimming chiefs have brushed off concerns about the poor turn-out by big names with Michael Phelps, Ian Thorpe, Grant Hackett, Aaron Piersol and Pieter van den Hoogenband all staying away. The championships - using a 25-metre pool instead of the usual 50 metres - have attracted athletes from a record 117 countries.
