Prisoners and US army soldiers stand behind the gate of Buchenwald concentration camp on which it is written "Jedem das seine" (to each his own)in April 1945. - Created in July 1937 near Weimar, Germany, the Buchenwald Nazi concentration camp was initially intended to lock up opponents of the Third Reich, mostly communists or social democrats, then received some 10,000 Jews arrested during the night of Cristal in 1938, as well as Gypsies, homosexuals and common law prisoners. During the Second World War, prisoners of war will also be sent there who will organize a resistance which will open the way to the liberation of the camp on April 11, 1945 by the American armored vehicles of the 20th corps of the 3rd Army of General George Patton.
