US President John Fitzgerald Kennedy delivers his State of the Union message addressed to US Congress at the House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. on January 11, 1962 in which he addresses his plan for Cold War diplomacy, the possible spread of communism through Asia and Latin America, and the importance of organizations such as the United Nations and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in managing international affairs. John Fitzgerald Kennedy (1917-1963) became the 35th President of the United States on January 20, 1961 and was the first Catholic, and the youngest to be elected to this office.
