Howard Hughes in Cockpit of TWA Airplane
(Original Caption) Plane maker Howard Hughes at controls of a TWA Constellation demonstrates $130 radar warning system to be available for airline planes. Dials on upper center instrument panel flash yellow light and sound horn when plane comes to within 2000 feet of any object ahead or below. Hughes explained that at the flash of the yellow light and the sound of a horn, he was within 2000 feet of a peak and could wrench the huge airliner into a 180 degree climbing turn."Such a climbing turn," the millionaire sportsman explained, "would clear any object in the country, even if you were flying in the Grand Canyon."
