Holbein exhibition Ambassadors
Painter and art historian James Heard, dressed as Hans Holbein, artist of the 1533 painting The Ambassadors, at the National Gallery, where Mr Heard gives performances of 'Meet the Artist, in which he discusses with young audiences painting techniques and life in Tudor England. The Ambassadors is noted for a technique created by Holbein showing anamorphic distortion of the skull (bottom centre of painting), which is best appreciated by viewing the painting from the side.
