Freddie Bartholomew Playing Street Baseball
(Original Caption) One other thing about this Freddie Bartholomew, the lad's thoroughgoing. When, on a recent visit to San Francisco, he decided it would be nice to learn a little more about baseball, he headed right for the North Beach Italian section, to consider the sandlot and street playing that was the start of many national figures, including Joe DiMaggio, Frank Crosetti and Tony Lazzeri of the New York Yankees. And here's Freddie at bat, with a young Italian-American signalling for a wide one to fool the young movie star.
