Tree planting campaign "1000 beeches

16 November 2022, Thuringia, Weimar: The former camp gate of Buchenwald concentration camp. Nearby, seven new trees were planted during the "1000 Buchen" tree planting campaign. The trees were planted as a symbol in memory of the victims of the Nazi concentration camp Buchenwald and the so-called "death marches". The trees are part of the "1000 Buchen" project and were originally intended to replace several memorial trees destroyed in the summer of 2022.
