Sharpeville Re-enactment
Members of the anti-apartheid movement commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Sharpeville massacre with a re-enactment outside South Africa House in Trafalgar Square, 21st March 1970. The Sharpeville incident resulted in 69 deaths as anti-apartheid demonstrators in South Africa were shot by government armed forces during a peaceful protest against the draconian 'Pass Laws' which restricted the movement of black people.
