NASCAR Dads Predicted To Elect Bush For Second Term
LOUDON, NH - JULY 24: U.S Marines salute next to the car they sponsor during the national anthem before the start of the race July 24, 2004 in Loudon, New Hampshire. Most branches of the U.S. military have race team in NASCAR, where they hope to gain exposure and promote their image. Generally blue collar or middle-class Americans, who are NASCAR fans, also called NASCAR Dads in contrast to Soccer Moms, have emerged as a key voter group for national elections in the U.S., including the 2004 presidential race, where they are specifically targeted by U.S. President George W. Bush campaign. Some 37 million strong, NASCAR fans tend to be white, hold traditional values, are religious, very patriotic, and vote Republican. NASCAR, the fastest growing sport in the U.S., is now the second most popular sport behind baseball. The social aspect and sense of community of NASCAR is a strong draw for many fans.
