'Independence here began' celebration of the independence of Krakow
Lieutenant colonel Rafal Seroka inspects participants in WWI uniforms during the 'Independence here began' event - the 100th anniversary celebration of the independence of Krakow on Independence Square in Podgorze area of Krakow with participation of some historical military formations from Austria, Bavaria, Hungary and Poland.
After 123 years of captivity, during which Poland was under the rule of three partitioning countries: Austria, Prussia and Russia, freedom finally came. On October 31, 1918, Krakow liberated itself from Austrian captivity and become the first Polish city which regained its independence.
