TOKYO, JAPAN: California University Professor Shuji Nakamura (R), who worked in a Japanese chemical company Nichia and is known as the inventor of the blue light-emitting diode (LED), enters the Tokyo District Court with his lawyer (L) 30 January 2004. The court ordered Nichia to pay a record 20 billion yen (189 million dollars) to Nakamura for patent rights transfer.
