Bobby Thomson and wife in Their Living Room

(Original Caption) Bobby Thomson shows his wife Elaine the route to Milwaukee on a road map after they received the news that the New York Giants had traded him to the Milwaukee Braves. Thomson has his bat ready to pack, as he and his wife talk about the move at their Staten Island home. The slugger whose dramatic play off homer won the 1951 pennant for the Giants, was traded to the Braves along with catcher Sam Calderone for four players and cash. When he learned of the trade, Thomson said he was "sorry to leave the Giants, but happy to be going with a team like Milwaukee."
