PW/IADOPT 3/16/05 DUMFRIES, VA #165996 BY: MARGARET THOMAS TWP Blue; red; green. These identify dogs at the Prince Willliam Animal Shelter. Blue collared dogs have been evaluated and are ready for adoption. Red signifies strays who are awaiting owners to claim them, while dogs with green collars are strays that no one has claimed. Dogs at the shelter ranged from pure bred (Dachshund, Schnauzer, Pug, Sheltie and Boxer) to mutts only a mother could love. During 2004 over 10,000 animals arrived at the shelter, some lost and some released for adoption by their former owners. Last year 978 dogs and 731 cats found homes with new people. Wednesday was a good news day. Two dogs found wandering on a county road were brought to the shelter and the owners located, and another was adopted.
