BenamarBenatta-July 26, 2006-Benamar Benatta, 32, is an Algerian Air Force lieutenant, who sought political asylum after completing military training in the U.S., Sept. 5, 2001. When terrorists hit the WTC and Pentagon six days later, suspicious Canadian authorities handed him over to the U.S. This week, after 58 months behind bars, he was handed back to Canadian authorities. The prison stay came even though the FBI had concluded by November, 2001, that he had no link to terrorists.
