Pond turtle as a Stone Age preserve

25 April 2024, Saxony-Anhalt, Halle (Saale): Fragments of turtle shells (r) of the European pond turtle are presented by a scientist in the lecture hall of the State Museum of Archaeology in Halle/Saale next to the thigh bone of a hyena and the tooth of a mammoth. The approximately 50,000 to 42,000-year-old turtle shell fragments and the other finds were discovered in the Barleben-Adamsee gravel pit (Börde district).
