Rana Plaza - Bangladesh Garment Factory Building Collapse Survivors

SAVAR, DHAKA, BANGLADESH - 2013/07/30: FATEMA (aged 29), a survivor of the Rana Plaza building collapse, having treatment in a hospital at Savar. During the incident she was working on the 6th floor of the building in a garment-factory. The eight-story building collapsed on April 24, 2013 at Savar in Bangladesh. The search for the dead ended on 13 May with the death toll standing at 1,129, with approximately 2,500 injured people rescued from the building alive. Rana Plaza, which housed four garment factories, had permission from the municipality to build five floors. The additional three floors were built illegally. On Tuesday, April 23, 2013 cracks were identified on two pillars in one of the factories. However, factory authorities deemed the building safe and allowed work to continue.
